How to polish the auger after drilling?
It is very important to sharpen the spiral bit after drilling to keep the bit in good condition and improve its performance. Sharpen the auger bit after drilling according to the following steps:
Note: Before starting, make sure that the auger bit is properly cleaned, remove debris or rust with a wire brush, and then dry it.
1. Fix the auger bit: place the auger bit in a safe bench vice to fix it in place.
2. Filing blade: use milling cutter file or chain saw to file the blade of auger. Make sure to start from the inside of the edge and move outward. File evenly and keep the original angle of the edge.
3. Sharpen the thread: Next, sharpen the thread of the auger bit. Use a round file to achieve this. When sharpening, please make sure that no unnecessary filing is carried out. Excessive sharpening will create too much space between the thread and the drill bit, affecting its ability to remove debris.
4. Check the uniformity: after completing the above steps, evaluate the cutting edge and thread to check whether they are sharp and uniform.
5. Cleaning and lubrication: clean the auger bit again to remove any metal chips or debris. Lubricate the auger bit to reduce friction, resistance and rust.
By performing the above steps, you can sharpen the spiral drill bit and restore it to its original performance, thus making the excavation project faster and more efficient.
