The principle is straightforward and reliable. It consists of a continuous loop of durable rubber belting stretched between two main pulleys: a drive pulley and a tail pulley. An electric motor and gearbox power the drive pulley, which moves the belt through friction. Along the frame, the belt is supported by a series of rollers, or idlers, which hold the load and minimize resistance. Material is loaded onto the belt at one end, transported along its length, and discharged at the other end as the belt turns around the head pulley.
