Key Features Upper friction flat self-aligning rollers, also called upper friction self-aligning rollers or flat belt self-aligning rollers, are a special type of load-bearing roller used in conveyor belt systems. Unlike trough rollers that form a V-shape, this type of roller supports the flat belt and automatically corrects belt deviation (i.e., when the belt is off-center) by using the friction between the belt and its inclined guide rollers. Its main function is to ensure accurate belt alignment on the load-bearing side (upper side of the material conveying) of flat belt conveyors, which are often used to convey packaged goods or lighter bulk materials.

Features Upper friction flat self-aligning rollers have unique design elements that enable them to self-align flat belts: Central pivot mechanism: The entire roller frame is mounted on a central pivot point (usually a swivel bearing or pivot pin). This allows the roller assembly to rotate horizontally in accordance with the belt movement. Angled side rollers/guide rollers: These rollers use an outer guide roller or a mechanism that causes the edge of the belt to be inclined. When the belt deviates sideways, it contacts this inclined surface. Friction-Based Tracking: Contact with the angled rollers creates friction that rotates the roller frame in the direction opposite to the belt’s misalignment. This rotational action, in turn, applies a tracking force to the belt, returning it to center. Flat Main Roller: The main roller that supports the belt’s bearing side is a flat roller because it is designed for flat belt applications (not troughed belts).
